In our text for today the focus is taken off of Joseph and is fixed on his dad, Jacob. Jacob had allowed fear and doubt to extinguish his faith in God. We will see how faith is awakened as Jacob steps out and moves his family to Egypt.

Although Joseph had a change in career he remained unchanged in character.  He lives in Egypt but never becomes an Egyptian by remembering his Lord in both adversity and prosperity. After being God’s messenger of knowledge to Pharaoh, now Joseph is God’s messenger of wisdom, advising Pharaoh to prepare for the great famine to come. Pharaoh then promoted Joseph to the second position in all Egypt to put the plan into action.
